The Acorn Club
The goal of the Acorn Club is to promote the importance of reading to young children, ages Pre-K to 2nd grade, and to increase this awareness with young parents. The Acorn Club is also a great way to bring together children from many different communities to share a common passion for reading.
Early literacy is one of the most vital tools that toddlers and preschool-age children need to contribute towards their overall development. Children need to learn at a young age that reading is not only fun, but also prepares them for primary school.
The St. Johnsbury Athenaeum is promoting early literacy at local area daycares and preschools by sending our Literacy Outreach Coordinator to promote not only the library's wonderful reading materials, but also showing how important reading at an early age is, children between the ages of 2-4 are becoming engaged in the world of reading.
