Renewing a Book

Please note: "best-sellers" (two-week checkout) are non-renewable. To renew an item, you may:

Come to the library in person .

Visit KOHA to renew the book yourself. After you log into your account, click on My Summary. You will see a list of books that you have checked out. The Renew column on the right will indicate whether or not you can renew the book. Check the box and renew the selected items or renew all items as indicated.

Reserving a Book

To reserve any item, you may:

Come to the library in person .

Visit KOHA and reserve the book yourself. Log into your account, and search for the item in our catalog. When you find your item in the catalog, click the title. The next page will list the various holdings at the different libraries. Find our library to determine if our copy is available or checked out. Click the Place hold icon on the right. Click Specific copy under Place on. Follow the list until you find the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum’s copy and click the circle on the left to select it. Click the Place Hold button at the bottom of the page to confirm the hold. We are currently not set up to hold other library copies.

When the item is returned and the library staff has prepared your item, you will be notified by email or phone to pick up your hold. The hold will remain in place for 7 days.

Regular books, audiotapes, videos and magazines may be renewed twice except when the material is "on reserve" for another patron. Renewal is for a three-week period from the time we process this form. If this book is not already part of the Athenaeum's collection, we will include it as a Book Suggestion.

Requesting an Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you are an Athenaeum library card holder you are eligible to request an Interlibrary Loan. Please search our online catalog to verify that the library does not have the material, then fill out the form below to request an Interlibrary Loan.
